Our App uses a "local-first" architecture, which means your data (notes, bookmarks, highlights, etc.) is stored on your device first and then synchronized with our cloud servers when an internet connection is available. This approach allows you to use the App offline while ensuring your data is backed up and available across multiple devices.
Data Security
We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. All information you provide to us is stored on secure servers behind firewalls and is encrypted during transmission using SSL technology.
Third-Party Services
Our App uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. These include:
- Google Firebase (for authentication, data storage, and crash reporting)
- Firebase Analytics (for usage tracking and analytics)
- Google Cloud Platform (for AI processing)
- Google Sign-In (for authentication)
- Apple Sign-In (for authentication on iOS devices)
- Google Mobile Ads (for serving advertisements)
- In-App Purchase services (for processing subscriptions and purchases)
Feedback and Suggestions
When you provide feedback or suggestions within the App, we collect and store this information to improve our services. Children's Privacy
Our App is designed to be family-friendly and appropriate for all ages. We have configured our advertising and content settings to be child-safe, including setting appropriate content ratings for advertisements. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age without verifiable parental consent. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. Your Bible study data (notes, bookmarks, highlights, reading history) is retained indefinitely unless you specifically request deletion. Usage analytics and performance data are retained for up to 2 years. If you wish to delete your account or request that we no longer use your information, please use our privacy request form or contact us at steve@lightpathapps.com. We will retain and use your information only as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and maintained on servers located in the United States and other countries through our use of Google Cloud Platform and Firebase services. If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data to the United States and process it there. For users in the European Union, we have implemented appropriate safeguards for data transfers, including adherence to standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
Advertising and Analytics
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements in our free version. These ads are configured to be family-friendly with G-rated content only. We may use your device's advertising identifier to provide relevant ads, but you can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising; Android: Settings > Google > Ads). We also use Firebase Analytics to understand app usage patterns and improve user experience. Analytics data is anonymized and IP addresses are anonymized for EU users.
iOS-Specific Privacy Features
On iOS devices, we respect system privacy settings including:
- App Tracking Transparency: We request permission before using your advertising identifier for personalized ads
- Notification Permissions: We request permission to send daily verse reminders and other notifications
- Sign in with Apple: When using Sign in with Apple, we respect your choice to hide your email address
Your Data Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data

You can choose not to create an account, which will limit the amount of personal information we collect, but will also limit your ability to use certain features of the App. You can also use the App in offline mode to minimize data transmission, though your local data will not be backed up until you connect to the internet.
Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We may update our privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes to how we treat our users' personal information, we will notify you through a notice on the App.
