LightPath Apps LLC ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This policy describes our practices for the MotionKeeper app (the "App"). MotionKeeper is designed with privacy in mind — your photos and videos never leave your device.

Privacy First

MotionKeeper processes all data locally on your device. Your photos are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with anyone.

Information We Collect

MotionKeeper is a privacy-focused app that processes all data locally on your device. We collect minimal information:

Information Stored Locally (On Your Device Only)

  • Scan history: Records of which photos have been scanned for motion video detection (stored in a local SQLite database)
  • Extraction history: Records of which videos have been extracted, including file paths and timestamps
  • App preferences: Your settings and whether you've completed onboarding

Important: This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

Information We May Receive

  • Crash reports: If the app crashes, anonymous diagnostic information may be sent to help us fix bugs. This includes device type, OS version, and crash stack traces, but never your photos, videos, or personal files.
  • Purchase information: If you purchase MotionKeeper Premium, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We receive only a purchase confirmation to unlock premium features — we never see your payment details.

Information We Do NOT Collect

MotionKeeper does not collect, transmit, or store:

  • Your photos or videos
  • Your location
  • Your contacts
  • Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number)
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Usage analytics or behavioral data

Photo Library Access

MotionKeeper requires access to your photo library to scan for Live Photos (iOS) and Motion Photos (Android). This access is used solely to:

  • Identify photos that contain embedded motion videos
  • Extract and save those videos to your photo library

All photo processing happens entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with anyone.

Data Storage and Security

All app data is stored locally on your device using standard platform security:

  • iOS: Data is stored in the app's sandboxed container and protected by iOS security. Premium purchase status is stored in the Keychain.
  • Android: Data is stored in the app's private storage directory. Premium purchase status is stored in the Android Keystore.

Third-Party Services

MotionKeeper uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase Crashlytics: For anonymous crash reporting to help us improve app stability
  • Apple App Store / Google Play: For processing in-app purchases

These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them:

Children's Privacy

MotionKeeper does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages.

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:

  • Clear app data: Use the "Clear All Data" option in the app's Settings to delete scan history and extraction records
  • Uninstall the app: Removing the app will delete all locally stored data
  • Extracted videos: Videos saved to your photo library remain there until you delete them manually

Your Rights

Because we don't collect personal data, traditional data rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) don't apply in the usual sense. However, you always have full control over your local data through the app's settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other means.
