Android platform details

LooksGauge is available on Google Play for Android 8.0 and later. The iPhone version is coming soon. References below to Apple, SwiftData, App Attest, or the iOS Keychain describe the iPhone version only.

On Android, photos use private app files, records use a local Room database, and preferences and usage counters use app-local storage. The app disables Android backup and requests exclusion from device transfers; device manufacturers may handle transfers differently. Delete scan history removes saved photos and results but keeps usage counters and preferences. Unlike the iOS Keychain marker, Android local counters are removed when Android app data is cleared or the app is uninstalled. This does not delete provider records or cancel a subscription.

Android uses Google Play Integrity through Firebase App Check to help verify requests. The same optional Google AI analysis, text-only follow-up chat, and result-report processing described on these pages apply. RevenueCat manages subscription entitlements, while Google Play handles Android purchases and refunds under its policies. Restore purchases using the Google account you used to subscribe. To manage or cancel a subscription, open Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Local prices, trial eligibility, and renewal terms appear on the store purchase sheet; uninstalling does not cancel Pro.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does scoring work?

You snap a selfie (or pick one from your library) and LooksGauge gives you a fun 0–10 Looks Score with warm, specific feedback, plus a Potential Score. The result includes a per-area breakdown — skin, hair & grooming, style & fit, expression, and photo quality — with the highest-impact quick wins listed first. Every lower score comes paired with a tip, and every result carries a disclaimer: it's a motivational score, not a clinical measurement.

Where are my photos and results stored?

In LooksGauge's private local storage, which the app marks for exclusion from Apple device backups. Selfie files use private media storage; scan records and results (scores, tips, trend history) use SwiftData. There is no account, no behavioral analytics about your scans or app usage, and no tracking. A stripped selfie copy leaves your device only after you grant AI-analysis consent and tap Scan — it's sent to Google's Gemini model for analysis with location and camera metadata stripped first and isn't used to train AI models. Google says published Gemini models may keep an in-memory, project-isolated cache for up to 24 hours and may retain prompts flagged for abuse monitoring for up to 90 days. See our privacy policy for details.

How do I delete my data?

Open Settings inside LooksGauge and tap Delete scan history — this removes locally saved selfies, scores, tips, and history. Deleting history does not reset the local free-scan usage count or restore used free scans. Uninstalling LooksGauge clears local preferences and the remembered AI-consent choice, but not the free-scan count: it is backed by a marker in the iOS Keychain that survives an ordinary uninstall and reinstall on the same device. LightPath keeps no routine first-party cloud history of your photos or scan results; Google's transient processing, RevenueCat purchase records, and optional reports are explained in the privacy policy.

How do free scans and LooksGauge Pro work?

LooksGauge includes 3 free AI analysis attempts. A run is reserved immediately before a request is submitted and is not restored if that request is refused, later fails, or is interrupted. After that, LooksGauge Pro lets you run new scans without a cap. Eligible new subscribers can start a 7-day free trial on monthly and yearly options at the localized prices shown in the app. Full results, the Potential Score, progress tracking, compare, and sharing an insight are available on the free tier. Subscriptions are billed to your Apple ID and auto-renew until cancelled; you can cancel any time in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone.

I subscribed but Pro isn't unlocked

Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID you subscribed with, then use the Restore Purchases option in the app's settings. Because there are no LooksGauge accounts, your subscription follows your Apple ID — restoring on a new or reinstalled device brings Pro back. If it still doesn't unlock, email us with your device model and iOS version.

The camera or photo picker isn't working

LooksGauge needs camera access to take a selfie. Check iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera > LooksGauge and confirm access is granted. Importing uses Apple's system photo picker, which does not grant LooksGauge broad library access and does not require a Photos permission. Saved photos remain in LooksGauge's private app storage; a metadata-stripped copy is sent only when you choose to scan.

Why does a scan need an internet connection?

The analysis runs on Google's Gemini model, so each scan needs a network connection and your consent to AI analysis. If a scan fails, check your connection and try again — your selfie stays on your device until you confirm the scan.

Can I use LooksGauge to rate someone else?

That's not what it's for. LooksGauge is an encouraging coach for your own glow-up — guided capture is built around your own selfie, feedback is written to motivate rather than shame, and there's no sharing feed or leaderboard. Please don't scan other people.
